Extracurricular Activities and Clubs
What are we aiming for?
Our carefully planned extended curriculum aims to provide children with a range of experiences and opportunities, which foster and nurture their interests and talents whilst also enriching our subject-specific curriculum. Our extended curriculum supports children’s personal growth, provides equal opportunities for all and, most importantly, creates life-long memories.
How do we achieve this?
Extra-Curricular Clubs
We offer a range of extra-curricular clubs at lunchtimes and after school. These clubs change each term to give variety across the year and to ensure that all interests are catered for.
Club opportunities include:
- Sports Clubs
- Cookery
- Art
- Reading
- Drama
- Arts Award
- Choir
- Greeen Goblin
- Orchestra
- Science
- Lego
- Spelling
- Times Tables
Opportunities to Perform
Children have opportunities to develop confidence and public speaking through performance in:
- Annual performances (Christmas, Easter, Summer)
- Class Assemblies
- Clubs (Choir/Orchestra)
- Whole School/Phase Projects (Sing up, Young Voices)
- Drama School (Evening class)
- Church Worship
Opportunities to Represent our School
Children have opportunities to develop a sense of pride and experience events outside of school such as:
- Inter-School sporting events and competitions
- STEM projects and events with universities
- Drama/Dance projects
- Church Events
Charity Events
Each term we take part in at least one charity event including:
- Sport Relief
- Children in Need
- Red Nose Day
- Christmas Jumper Day
- Cake sales
- Fun runs
- Food Bank
Individual children often choose to raise money for their own chosen charities and we support and celebrate this as a school.
Trips/Residentials
School day trips and residentials play a vital role in enhancing the educational experience for pupils. They offer valuable opportunities to go beyond the confines of the classroom and engage in hands-on, experiential learning.
Our provision offers:
- An enriched subject-specific curriculum in the form of school day trips which are planned and designed to complement and enrich the subjects taught in the classroom.
- Experiential learning where children actively participate, observe, and interact with their surroundings. This deepens their understanding, encourages critical thinking, and fosters a sense of curiosity and exploration.
- Social and personal development: Our day trips and residentials offer pupils the opportunities to develop social and personal skills.
- Cultural and global awareness: Our trip offer includes visits to different cultural or historical sites which expose them to diverse perspectives, traditions, and ways of life. This helps broaden their horizons, develop cultural sensitivity, and foster an appreciation for diversity.
- Lifelong memories: Our day trips and residentials create lasting memories for our pupils. These experiences can be transformative and have a profound impact on their personal and educational journeys.
Community Events
Children have opportunities to develop a sense of belonging by being a part of community events such as:
- Summer Fayre
- Fireworks
- Chocolate Bingo
- Litter picks
- Local library visits
- Supporting local businesses & charities
Parental Engagement
We engage parents through:
- Class Assemblies and celebrations
