Religous Education (R.E.)
WHAT are we aiming for?
At Forsbrook Church of England Primary school, we have designed our Religious Education curriculum with the intent that our children will become resilient, accepting, mindful and inquisitive learners. Our Religious Education allows children to discover and gain an insight into religions within that world that we live. We view the teaching of Religious Education as vital for children to understand others’ beliefs and make connections between their own values. It is our role to ensure pupils are inquisitive by asking questions about the world around them by allowing pupils to gain high quality experiences.
Our Religous Education (R.E.) curriculum aims to create children who:
- understand Christianity and demonstrate Christian values
- understand the importance of spirituality and reflection
- appreciate world faiths and make comparisons and connections between them.
- appreciate the impact and affect that religion has on people’s lives
HOW do we achieve this?
Our Religious Education (R.E) curriculum is a vital part of our core curriculum. It is delivered each week and is based around two main principles: learning about religion and learning from religion. As a Christian school, we follow the scheme of work ‘Understanding Christianity’ as well as exploring the five other world religions: Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and Sikhism. Children are encouraged to compare and contrast, develop a tolerance of other faiths and express their own beliefs and ideas.
