Curriculum Overview
At Forsbrook CE Primary School, we firmly believe that education is not just about knowledge, but about shaping young minds and nurturing the whole child.
Our curriculum is built around our core Christian values and is designed to fulfil our Christian Vision statement:
We are a Christian school where quality and opportunities make a difference. All children are unique and valued as children of God, who are welcomed into our safe, loving and supportive Christian family. We strive for excellence and inspire dreams both now and in the future. Every child is nurtured to achieve their God-given potential.
Our school motto guides our curriculum development.
“Learning, Loving, Laughing in the light of Jesus.”
Learning…
Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on academic excellence and is fully inclusive, so that every child can access it and reach their potential. Carefully planned and sequenced from EYFS to Year 6, it builds on prior learning and develops the key knowledge, skills and vocabulary in every subject. Key concepts link learning within subjects, across subjects and across year groups, so children make connections and build a deep, joined-up understanding.
Loving…
We want every child to develop a deep love of learning. Our curriculum sparks curiosity and wonder, encouraging children to ask questions, explore ideas and take pride in their achievements. Sustainability is threaded through our curriculum subjects, inspiring children to be passionate about the natural world, to protect it and to influence their wider communities.
Laughing…
We believe learning should be enjoyable and engaging, so our curriculum embraces joy, wonder and adventure. We want our children to be happy and healthy, and to remember their primary years with fondness. Memorable experiences in school, and learning beyond the classroom through our well-planned extra-curricular offer, build cultural capital and encourage pupils to take risks, embrace challenges and develop a growth mindset.
In the Light of Jesus…
Our core Christian values are woven through our curriculum, fostering empathy, kindness and resilience and helping children build positive relationships as responsible citizens. We strive to instil a strong sense of community, celebrating diversity and promoting equality for all. Asking “What would Jesus do?” is our moral compass for curriculum decisions made in the best interests of our children.
