Primary Education – Reception
Children join our Reception class in September of the year they reach five. Allocations are made by the Local Authority in line with their Admissions Policy. If you are considering applying for your child to attend Forsbrook CE Primary School, please call our school office and we can discuss options for meeting the headteacher and visiting the school.
The School Admissions Team allocate all school Reception class places – for further details on the admissions process including admission criteria, catchment areas, appeals etc visit the Staffordshire County Council website.
School Admissions do not issue application forms as the Service is keen to provide a paperless system in all its admissions processes wherever possible. The website also gives details if you wish to apply for a mid-year transfer but we would request that you contact the school first.

Please note: applications for admission into Forsbrook Nursery should be made directly with Forsbrook CE Primary School. We have three rooms in our nursery, admitting children from 8 weeks old.

Visits to School
Prospective parents are welcome to visit school prior to their child starting school. Please call our school office to arrange this. Please note that an induction evening meeting for parents takes place prior to your child starting school. The meeting gives you the opportunity to ask any questions or concerns that you may have. Children joining our Nursery and Reception classes will also be invited to attend induction sessions at the end of the summer term prior to them starting in the September. These dates will be made available when places have been allocated.

Dear Parents
Our Open Morning for prospective nursery and reception parents is on Thursday 19th October 2023 9.30am – 10.30am. During the Open Morning you will have the opportunity to:
- Tour the school – these tours will be done by our Year 6 pupils. We thought that they would be the best people to give you a real insight into what life is really like at Forsbrook C.E. (C) Primary School.
- Ask questions – Once the tour has finished the children will bring you back to the hall where you will be able to ask any questions to the Nursery Manager, Mrs Holdcroft, our Reception Class Teacher, Miss Adams and the Headteacher Mrs Cooke.
- Refreshments will also be served in the hall.
Any parents requiring a nursery place for children aged 0-5 years can collect an application form on the open morning. Children are now able to start in the nursery from 8 weeks of age. Some funded places are available for 2, 3 & 4 year olds. Forsbrook Nursery and Child Care is open from 7.30am-6pm every day during term time in line with our school calendar.
You are welcome to bring your child/children with you. There will also be another opportunity to visit the school with your child later in the year and a more informal meeting for you to attend in the summer term. Please use Forsbrook Nursery car park and walk to the main school entrance via the footpath. Access is via the entrance to Blythe Bridge High School through the barrier and tell staff that you are attending our Open Morning.

The closing date for applications for children who will be starting in the reception class is 15th January 2024. The best way to make an application is to apply online www.staffordshire.gov.uk/admissions. A place is not automatically reserved for your child, you must apply online.
Children can start in our nursery at any time during the year subject to availability. Applications for nursery should be made directly to the school.
