Chess Club

Our Chess club is open to all pupils in Key Stage 2 and meets at Wednesday lunchtimes and we are lucky enough to have the support Dr. Ali Arshad, a Chess in Schools and the Community (CISC) volunteer who has been coaching the children to improve their game.

Our club aims to foster a love for chess while promoting valuable skills such as strategy, critical thinking and problem-solving. We have lots of exciting plans to develop and expand our provision including taking part in competitions with other local schools.

Benefits of chess:

  1. Enables critical thinking: chess requires players to analys, plan ahead and think strategically.
  2. Promotes sportsmanship and character building: chess teaches important values like patience, respect and sportsmanship. Through friendly matches and competitions, children will learn how to handle both victory and defeat gracefully.
