Our Visit to the Local Food Bank

Sep 19, 2022 | Forsbrook Cares

Our School Council and Worship Committee members have been working closely with the Stoke-On-Trent Foodbank to provide support to people in our local communities. It all started with our harvest collection where, as a school we collected a large number of items that were donated to the Foodbank in Blurton. For this outstanding contribution we received our Bronze level certificate.

Following on from this our School Council and Worship Committee representatives spent a morning volunteering at the foodbank where they learnt all about the amazing work of the Foodbank and how they operate. Staff and children were involved in labelling and sorting the food within the warehouse, and we met some of the amazing volunteers. As a result, we were accredited with a Silver award for our contributions to the service. We have worked closely with Caroline from the Foodbank, and she has been into the school to deliver a whole school assembly for us.

Following on from our harvest video that showcased our support, Caroline was keen to produce a similar video titled ‘A Foodbank is ….’. We were eager to take part and our students are seen within the video. We have also appointed two food bank ambassadors that are at the forefront of the support that we provide as a school. We have recently set up a food donation point that is located within the entrance to our school. All donations are greatly appreciated to help us to continue to aid a fantastic charity that supports those in need. Below is a list of items that the Foodbank are running low of, and we would love to help. We would like to say a huge thank you for your continued support to enable us to reach the Gold award.
