After studying the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings in the classroom, Year 4 travelled back in time today for a hands-on learning experience at Tamworth Castle. We began by touring the castle and exploring the different period rooms where we were very excited to discover a selection of items from the Staffordshire Hoard. Next, we used archeological practices to unearth an assortment of items including replica artefacts. Finally, we donned our shields and took up our swords to role-play and practise our battle cries in a shield wall activity. It was wonderful to hear the children discussing their knowledge and a fabulous opportunity to gain further insight into two fascinating periods in history.
