Enhancing Learning with 1:1 iPads in Key Stage 2

At Forsbrook School, we’re always looking for ways to improve the learning experience for our pupils. As part of this, we’ve introduced 1:1 iPads into our Key Stage 2 curriculum. Now in its third year, this initiative has been a great success in supporting teaching and learning, particularly in helping our pupils become more independent and making learning more accessible.

Balancing Technology with Traditional Methods

While we embrace the benefits of modern technology, we also understand the importance of traditional learning methods. Our pupils still use books for writing and other hands-on activities to make sure they develop strong basic skills. Teachers carefully choose when to use iPads to enhance lessons and when to stick with more traditional approaches. This balance ensures that technology supports, rather than replaces, key learning practices.

Supporting Accessibility and Independence

• Improving Accessibility for All Learners
  The iPads have been especially helpful for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). With a range of tools and resources, the iPads give all pupils the chance to work independently and engage with their learning in new ways. This makes learning more accessible and allows every pupil to feel confident and involved.
• Encouraging Independent Learning
  The iPads also help pupils learn at their own pace and explore subjects in ways that work best for them. This not only boosts their confidence but also helps them prepare for the next steps in their education.
• Real-Time Feedback and Assessment
  iPads also provide instant feedback, which helps pupils understand how they’re doing and where they need to improve. Teachers can offer quick support if needed, ensuring pupils stay on track to meet their learning goals.

We believe that using 1:1 iPads in Key Stage 2 is a great way to enhance learning for all our pupils.
