A Fantastic Half Term of Learning!
This half term has been packed with exciting learning across all subjects!
In English, the children have been diving into the world of myths, using Kai and the Monkey King as inspiration for their own imaginative stories. They have worked hard on crafting vivid descriptions using expanded noun phrases, relative clauses, and fronted adverbials to bring their mythical settings and characters to life. During guided reading, we explored Odd and the Frost Giants, comparing characters and drawing links with other books we’ve read. The children showed fantastic analytical skills as they discussed themes, motives, and similarities across different texts.
Our history lessons transported us back to Tudor times. We examined portraits, artefacts, and inventories to uncover fascinating details about Henry VIII and everyday life in the 1500s. The children particularly enjoyed acting as “Tudor detectives” to interpret clues from historical sources. In science, the children became investigators as they carried out fair tests to explore forces. They planned and conducted their own enquiries, predicting and measuring how different variables affect motion.
PE has been a real highlight this term as we began our Beatles‑themed dance. The class has shown brilliant teamwork, rhythm, and creativity as they rehearse for our upcoming performance at the Victoria Hall! In RE, we explored how Muslims worship in Britain today, deepening our understanding of different beliefs, traditions, and practices.
We also celebrated Mental Health Day, exploring the theme “This is my place” and thinking about what helps us feel safe, valued, and connected. For Internet Safety Day, we learned about AI technologies and discussed how they are used in our everyday lives—and how to stay safe when using them online.
A standout moment of the term was our class assembly. The children spoke confidently and proudly as they shared their learning with parents—it was a wonderful celebration of all their effort and achievements so far.
