Summer Half Term 1

May 25, 2026 | Year 4

This half term in English, the children have been inspired by Alba the Hundred Year Old Fish. They created detailed underwater setting descriptions and wrote persuasive letters from Alba’s perspective, encouraging others to protect marine life and care for our oceans.

In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of fractions and decimals, applying these skills through practical activities and problem‑solving tasks.

Our History learning has taken us deep into the Maya civilisation, exploring how they adapted to life in the rainforests, their religious beliefs, and the importance of the cacao bean. We are now looking forward to building on this knowledge during our upcoming trip to Cadbury World.

In Art, the children have enjoyed our Festive Foods unit, studying artists who use food as inspiration for creative sculptures. They have designed and crafted their own favourite treats using clay, finishing them with acrylic paints to create vibrant, eye‑catching pieces.

In RE, we have explored the story of Pentecost and reflected on how Jesus visited and inspired his disciples.

Computing has seen the children developing their photo‑editing skills, using safe online tools to crop, enhance and layer images with increasing confidence.
