Year 6 – Spring 1 Update

Feb 12, 2025 | Year 6

Our Geography unit took us on a journey to discover the mountains of the world and we even took part in some virtual fieldwork to Everest base camp! We also learned about the impacts that tourism has on Nepal.

In English, we wrote a set of recommendations, an application letter and a diary entry – all centred around Sir Ernest Shackleton’s incredible survival story on board his ship ‘Endurance’.

In Science, we learned about evolution and inheritance. We explored how animals and plants adapt to suit their environment.

Our artwork was inspired by the artist Mike Barrett and we expressed our identities by producing layered portraits. We have some truly gifted artists in Year 6!

As a school, we participated in a PE enrichment day where we had an amazing opportunity to go Zorbing!

We also took part in Children’s Mental Health Week and Safer Internet Day, completing a range of activities in which the children showed maturity and empathy throughout.
