Collective Worship

An Introduction to Collective Worship at Forsbrook CE Primary School

As a Church of England school, collective worship at Forsbrook CE Primary is considered the heartbeat of our school community. It brings life to all that we do by providing a daily moment to pause, reflect, and come together as a loving, united school family. During this special time, we worship, share in the love of God, and celebrate the achievements and gifts of every child and adult in our care.

Collective worship plays a central role in strengthening and expressing our distinctive Christian identity. It is through worship that our Christian vision and values are brought to life and where the unique contribution of each member of our community is recognised and celebrated. Supported by our dedicated staff, governors, and our close relationship with our church, daily worship nurtures the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of the whole school.

Our worship is consistent with the faith, traditions, and practices of the Church of England. At Forsbrook, worship is distinctly Christian and reflects a rich variety of Anglican traditions. For example, we follow the Christian liturgical year, using seasonal colours on our Worship Table in the hall and in classroom worship spaces to help deepen pupils’ understanding of the church calendar.

Above all, we aim for every pupil and adult to experience worship that is warm, welcoming, inclusive, and reflective of Christian hospitality.

Collective Worship at Forsbrook CE Primary School Will Be:
  • Inclusive – We recognise that our pupils and staff come from a variety of faith backgrounds, as well as from families with no faith tradition. Our worship is designed to be accessible and meaningful for all. Language used in worship is carefully chosen so that it does not assume personal faith but allows everyone to engage with openness and respect.
  • Invitational – Participation in worship is always an invitation, never a requirement. No one is compelled to take part in prayer, song, or response. Instead, worship offers opportunities for thoughtful engagement, allowing each individual—of any faith or none—to participate with integrity and in ways that feel comfortable to them.
  • Inspiring – Through big questions, stories, reflection, and shared moments, our worship encourages both children and adults to think deeply about who we are and how we live. We hope that worship inspires actions rooted in kindness, compassion, and responsibility, helping pupils reflect on their own choices and the impact they have within the school and wider community.
