Time travel, technology and tinsel – it’s the countdown to Christmas!
In Autumn 2, our literary exploration centred around C.S. Lewis’s “The Chronicles of Narnia – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” We sharpened our descriptive writing skills, emphasising ‘show’ over ‘tell,’ and ventured into alternative settings through imaginative doorways.
In mathematics, we tackled 2-digit addition and subtraction, delved into measurements and shape areas, and mastered multiplication and division. Science took a practical turn with the construction of simple electrical circuits, as we explored the properties of conductors and insulators.
In History, we travelled back in time, investigating the challenges of invading and settling in Britain before experiencing life under Anglo-Saxon and Viking rule at Tamworth Castle. Back in the classroom, we investigated uses for levers in D&T before designing, making and evaluating a Christmas decoration using our knowledge of levers and pivots.
In November, we participated in the Bikeability Level 1 Cycle Training where we practised a variety of skills before the countdown to Christmas began. We really enjoyed the festivities – especially when we got to play in the snow globe!
