As Summer Term 1 draws to a close, we reflect on a busy and exciting half-term full of learning, creativity, and discovery.
In English, we thoroughly enjoyed reading Tidy by Emily Gravett. The story inspired us to write persuasive letters in role, encouraging others to care for and protect the environment. Our discussions helped us understand the impact of our actions on the natural world and how important it is to take responsibility.
During our reading sessions, we delved into the classic tale Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl. We had great fun exploring the characters and storyline, using our comprehension skills to discuss their actions, motives, and how the plot developed.
In Maths, we focused on two important topics: fractions and telling the time. We explored how to recognise and work with fractions and practised reading clocks with increasing confidence.
Our RE lessons centred around the gospel unit, where we explored the big question: What is the good news that Jesus brings? We reflected on the values of kindness, forgiveness, and peace, and thought about how we can bring good news to others in our own lives.
In Art and Design, we took part in an imaginative stick transformation unit, using everyday materials to create our very own worry dolls. It was a fantastic opportunity to express ourselves creatively and work with unusual materials.
During Computing, we experimented with Chrome Music Lab to create our own pieces of digital music. We had lots of fun exploring pitch, tempo, and rhythm, developing our understanding of how music can be created using technology.
In Geography, we investigated the theme: How Continents and Oceans Shape Our World. We explored maps, learnt key facts about the continents and oceans, and discovered how they influence weather, climate, and life around the globe.
Finally, in Science, we studied animals including humans, learning about their basic needs, life cycles, and how they grow and change. We asked lots of thoughtful questions and were curious to learn more about how humans and animals live and survive.
