From whales to wormeries, salvation to stage performances and lots in-between!
During the Spring 1 term, our classroom buzzed with creativity, curiosity, and discovery! In English, we dove deep into the ocean with The Big Blue Whale, crafting persuasive pieces to champion the protection of these gentle giants.
Maths had us thinking big and small as we tackled length, perimeter, and fractions.
British Science Week got hands-on and a little muddy, with the creation of our very own wormeries—perfect for exploring how nature recycles!
Our learning extended beyond the classroom too, as we stepped into sacred spaces on the Derby Faith Trail, exploring a mosque and experiencing morning prayers in a Hindu temple.
Back at school, our RE lessons focused on ‘Salvation’, leading to thoughtful conversations around the meaning of Good Friday.
In art, we explored how artists combine media and used acrylic and thread to make a painted and stitched piece of art.
Meanwhile, in computing, we considered our online identities and learned how to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
A truly special moment was celebrating Mother’s Day, when we welcomed the significant women in our lives to join us for a morning of joyful craft activities.
The absolute highlight, though, was joining forces with Year 4 for our unforgettable production of Spring Chicken—a celebration of singing, dancing, and performing that filled the hall with smiles. We also had the opportunity to participate in a recorder festival, performing alongside hundreds of other young musicians. The term ended with a surprise visit from the Easter bunny!
It’s safe to say this term has been packed with excitement, achievement, and moments to be proud of!
